| M·A·C AIDS FUND (VIVA GLAM V) SPOKESPERSON - LINDA EVANGELISTA -
PRESENTED A CHEQUE DONATION TO DR. SUNITI SOLOMON, DIRECTOR OF Y.R.G CARE (Y R GAITONDE CENTER FOR AIDS
RESEARCH AND EDUCATION) IN INDIA |
 |
| Mumbai, October 21st 2005 - M·A·C Cosmetics and the
M·A·C AIDS Fund presented a cheque today for US$ 250,000 to YRG CARE, a charity that helps
individuals in India living and affected by HIV/AIDS. |
 |
| Renowned supermodel Linda Evangelista has made a special
appearance in her role as one of M·A·C VIVA GLAM's five spokespeople to present the cheque
to Dr. Suniti Solomon, Director of YRG CARE. |
 |
| Linda Evangelista commented today, "I am so proud to be
involved with the M·A·C AIDS Fund to raise awareness of the HIV/AIDS epidemic and the much-needed funds.
Every penny from the sale of the VIVA GLAM lipsticks goes towards helping men, women and children
living with this disease. This is my first visit to India and a great honour to be able to present
Y.R.G CARE with a cheque for $250,000 which will contribute towards
building a hospital in Chennai to treat HIV-infected patients". |
 |
| The monies raised by the M·A·C AIDS Fund will not
only see the build of a new hospital in the charity's base in Chennai but will also
enable the hospital to be fully equipped in order to help its future patients by
providing medicine, medical staff, treatment and care for those living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. |
 |
| "My staff and patients appreciate this
generosity and kindness and join me in thanking the M·A·C AIDS Fund. I
applaud M·A·C for this great initiative in making our dreams come true
and putting smiles back on the faces of our patients. Many times 'Corporate
Responsibility' is more talk than action, whereas the M·A·C AIDS Fund is
very little talk and total action." |
 |
 |
 |
| With its recently opened store in India, M·A·C anticipates
that sales of the VIVA GLAM lipsticks will heighten awareness of HIV/AIDS and urge people to
help fight the fear and stigma surrounding the disease. |
 |
| The M·A·C AIDS Fund - the charitable arm of the rule
breaking professional makeup company, M·A·C Cosmetics - has raised over $50 million in
its eleven-year history. The primary fund raising tool for the M·A·C AIDS Fund is the
specially created line of Viva Glam lipsticks. 100% of sales of the lipstick are donated
to organisations and people living with HIV/AIDS. Other Viva Glam V spokespeople include
Pamela Anderson, Chloe Sevigny, Christina Aguilera and Missy Elliott. |
