To support the HOPE Project which trains and coordinates people living with HIV to effectively share their personal experiences through media campaigns, speaking engagements and community forums in order to educate the public, combat stigma and stop the spread of HIV. In the United States, women of color, especially African-American women, represent the vast majority of new cases among women —between 2001 and 2004 an estimated 83 percent were African American or Hispanic.  One major reason for this disparity is that women do not realize that they are at risk for HIV and in that regard.

Cascade AIDS Project (CAP), Portland, OR
For the TEEN2TEEN Prevention Education Program.  This is a unique youth education and leadership program that works in collaboration with other youth programs to deliver and reinforce HIV and STI (sexually transmitted infection) prevention messages and promote community awareness and action.  It is the only program of its kind in Oregon that is created, designed, and led by youth for youth.

City Impact, Inc. (CI), Oxnard, CA
To expand its HIV/AIDS intervention and prevention education program for at-risk youth and families in Ventura County.  The majority of these youth are from low-income Hispanic/Latino families of migrant and agricultural farm workers that have limited or non-English speaking skills.  Many of these families lack access to high-quality health care and resources that provide prevention education on HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases.  This program provides a critically needed community resource .

New Leaf: Services For Our Community (NL), San Francisco, CA
To support its HIV Mental Health, Prevention, and Substance Abuse Program.  This program works to decrease psychiatric symptoms, address substance abuse issues, and increase awareness for LGBTQQ (lesbian, gay, and bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning) people living with or at risk for HIV, particularly youth. Given that New Leaf is the major organization of its kind in the greater San Francisco Bay Area.
